Library
“There is no furniture so charming as books.” A school, as a centre of learning, finds its true strength in a well-established library. Libraries are spaces where learners and knowledge come together, nurturing curiosity, imagination, and independent thinking. Even in today’s digital age, the role of the school library remains timeless, continuing to serve as the heart of academic exploration.
At Vidya Vihar Convent High School, the library is an integral part of the teaching–learning process. Centrally located on the first floor, the library spans approximately 1,500 square feet and provides a calm, organised, and student-friendly environment. It includes designated areas for reading, research, and group study, with seating capacity for around 30 students at a time.
The library houses a rich collection of more than 1,500 books covering academic textbooks, reference materials, fiction, non-fiction, and general knowledge resources. Subscriptions to newspapers and magazines ensure that students remain informed about current affairs and global developments. In addition, previous years’ question papers and academic support materials assist students in effective examination preparation.
A well-stocked library encourages the development of learner agency, allowing students to explore subjects of interest at their own pace. It expands learning beyond prescribed textbooks, deepens thinking skills, and promotes lifelong reading habits. The library also represents the true spirit of equality, providing every child—regardless of background—free access to knowledge.
Regular reading activities, book clubs, and guided library periods help cultivate discipline, concentration, and research skills. Managed by qualified staff and supported with basic digital resources, the library at Vidya Vihar Convent High School continues to nurture informed, confident, and independent learners prepared for academic success and lifelong learning.
